Perform and Participate

Participants for massive outdoor performance required.

We are delighted to announce that Southpaw Dance Company is bringing Rush to Leicester this Summer.

Delivered in partnership with Journeys Festival International, Rush is a a large-scale, mass participation dance spectacle, featuring a cast of up to 200 members of the Leicester community.

Absolutely no former dance experience is required.

Participants will learn the material in weekly classes across the city alongside 200 members of the Leicester community! A guidance age of 16+ is recommended for participation.

Rush is a celebration of cultural expression and identity, of local lives and daily struggles, with community at its heart. Told through the lens of three local characters, Rush examines the daily frustrations that move us to effect change, offering dance, music and the power of vibrant, cultural protest as a voice to express those struggles; a voice firmly rooted in the cultural identity of Leicester.

Taster workshops will be taking place across the city from the 13 June, leading towards the spectacle performance on Saturday 13 August.

If you want to be at the heart of a spectacle of movement, projection, and storytelling, this is for you!

“I have just performed in a mass movement with Southpaw named Wordplay and its safe to say it was amazing, the rehearsals, tech runs and the final performance was made so enjoyable by the company! If you have the opportunity to work with this company DO IT!” Participant, Rush
